Social and Community Participation

Social, Economic and Community Participation is a funded support category that you may find in your NDIS plan, under Core Supports.

This funding covers the support NDIS participants need to meet goals relating to participating in community, social or recreational activities and study or work to build your skills, reduce the risk of social isolation and improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Social Participation - means your existing relationships with family and friends and the importance of strengthening and maintaining these supports.

Economic Participation - means being involved in things that help you work towards obtaining and maintaing a job. This may include supports towards volunteering, study, learning new skills or trying work experience.

Community Participation - means engaging in your local community to conduct weekly shopping tasks, appointments, activities of interest, hobbies, sports, services and supports.

These supports can be provided in a range of environments, such as in the community or a centre.
